Power Drive on SNES is one of those racing games that feels like it was designed to make your thumbs ache in the best way possible. The tracks are tight, the AI drivers don’t mess around, and if you blink at the wrong moment, you’re eating guardrail. It’s got that classic 90s arcade racer vibe—simple controls, but good luck mastering the hairpin turns.
What I love is how the game doesn’t hold your hand. No fancy assists, just you, a turbo button, and a lot of memorizing corners. The tracks get wild fast, with loops, jumps, and shortcuts that actually matter. First time I played, I wiped out halfway through lap two and immediately hit restart—that’s when you know it’s got that addictive edge.
It’s not the prettiest racer on the SNES, but the speed holds up, and the soundtrack nails that high-energy, pedal-to-the-metal feel. If you’re into old-school racing games that reward persistence (and maybe a little controller-throwing frustration), this one’s a solid pick.
