Populous II on SNES is one of those god games where you play as a deity shaping the land and messing with mortals—except this time, it’s Greek mythology flavored. You start off with this tiny patch of land and a handful of followers, and then it’s all about raising mountains, flooding valleys, and dropping disasters on enemy villages. The whole "Olympian Gods" angle means you get powers like Zeus’ lightning or Poseidon’s tidal waves, which is way more fun than just terraforming.
At first, it feels a little slow—your followers take their sweet time building stuff—but once you get the hang of it, there’s something weirdly satisfying about watching your little civilization expand while you smite rivals from above. The German version doesn’t change much, just some text, but the pixel art holds up surprisingly well for an old SNES title. If you ever wanted to play petty deity, this is a solid way to do it.
