Populous II on SNES is one of those games that makes you feel like an actual god—in a good way. You start off with this tiny patch of land and a handful of followers, and suddenly you're reshaping mountains, summoning disasters, and watching your little civilization either thrive or collapse based on your choices. The whole Greek mythology twist gives it flavor—Zeus is judging you, and you’ve got to prove yourself by outplaying rival gods.
At first, I had no idea what I was doing—raising land here, dropping a volcano there—but once it clicks, it’s weirdly satisfying. The pixelated followers bowing to you, the way floods or earthquakes can wipe out entire villages if you’re careless… it’s brutal but fun. And yeah, the AI gods don’t mess around—they’ll drown your people in tidal waves if you take too long.
It’s not just about destruction, though. You’ve got to balance miracles with strategy, and the deeper you get, the more it feels like a chess match with divine powers. If you like old-school god games with actual stakes, this one’s still worth firing up.
