Pop'n TwinBee on SNES is one of those bright, cheerful shooters that doesn't take itself too seriously—you're piloting a cute little ship with a bell for a weapon, after all. The overhead view makes dodging enemy fire feel a little different from your usual side-scrolling bullet hell, and the pastel colors give it this weirdly cozy vibe for a shooter.
It's the first TwinBee game to hit Europe, and honestly, it's a solid intro to the series. The power-up system is simple but satisfying—shoot floating bells to change their colors, then grab them for different weapon effects. I kept going for the purple ones because the spread shot just feels right when things get chaotic.
If you're into retro shooters but want something less punishing than, say, R-Type, this one's got charm to spare. Just don't let the cutesy graphics fool you—it still gets intense.
