Okay, so Poko-Nyan! Henpokorin Adventure is one of those weirdly cute SNES games that somehow slipped under the radar. You play as this round, squishy cat-thing (honestly, no idea what it is, but it’s adorable) bouncing through these pastel-colored dreamscapes, collecting little trinkets while avoiding… uh, sentient vegetables? Yeah, it’s that kind of game.
The controls take a second to get used to—your character has this floaty jump that feels like you’re hopping on marshmallows. At first, I kept overshooting platforms, but once it clicks, you start pulling off these weirdly satisfying chain bounces off enemies. And the music? Super cheerful, like someone turned a music box full of candy into a soundtrack.
It’s not just mindless hopping, though. Some levels have these puzzle-like sections where you’re stacking blocks or timing jumps just right to unlock hidden areas. I got stuck for way too long on this one screen with disappearing clouds before realizing I had to lure an enemy over to trigger them. Classic ’90s "trial and error" design.
If you’re into quirky, low-stakes platformers with a side of charm, this one’s worth digging up.
