Pokémon SkyLine is one of those fan-made GBA hacks that actually feels polished—like someone took the best parts of FireRed and sprinkled in their own twists. You start off in this weirdly futuristic city instead of the usual sleepy hometown, and your first rival battle happens on a rooftop with neon signs blinking in the background. Feels more like a cyberpunk mod than a Pokémon game at first.

The new sprites are crisp, and there’s a bunch of Gen 4-5 Pokémon mixed in with the classics. I picked a Ralts as my starter because, well, Gardevoir’s always a solid choice. The map’s got these vertical layers—you take elevators between districts, and some hidden areas only unlock if you backtrack with HMs later. A few glitches here and there (it’s still a beta), but way more playable than most hacks at this stage.

If you’ve burned through the official games too many times, this one’s got enough surprises to feel fresh.
