Pokémon Revolution is one of those classic Red hacks that actually changes things up—way more than just swapping out sprites or tweaking difficulty. Right off the bat, you notice the starters are different (no more basic Charmander/Bulbasaur/Squirtle trio), and some of the early routes have totally new Pokémon. I remember picking a Houndour first time and thinking, "Wait, this isn’t Kanto."

The map’s been rearranged too, so even if you’ve played Red a hundred times, you’ll still get lost in Viridian Forest. And the trainers? They don’t mess around. That first rival battle hits harder than you’d expect. If you’re into ROM hacks that actually feel fresh without going completely off the rails, this one’s solid. Just don’t expect your old strategies to work.
