Pokémon Prism Ruby: Hoenn Starters is a GBA romhack that gives the classic Ruby version a fresh coat of paint—mostly by letting you pick from all three Hoenn starters right off the bat. No more agonizing over Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip when you can just… have them all. The early game feels way less grindy, and there are some tweaks to wild encounters that make building a team less of a chore.

It’s still Ruby at its core, though—same story, same gym leaders, same weirdly enthusiastic villainous team. But if you’ve played the original to death and just want to mess around with different starter combos, this one’s a solid pick. The sprite work’s clean, and I didn’t run into any game-breaking glitches, which is always a plus with romhacks.

Honestly, my only gripe is that it doesn’t go further with changes. Still, blasting through Hoenn with a stacked starter trio never gets old.
