Pokémon Orange is one of those fan-made GBA hacks that actually feels like a proper Pokémon game—just with a tropical twist. You start off on this sunny island region packed with new Pokémon (some original, some clever twists on classics), and right away you’re thrown into the usual "pick your starter and go" chaos. I went with the fire-type cub thing, which was a mistake because the first gym leader loves water-types. Classic.

The overworld’s got that classic GBA pixel charm, but with way more palm trees and beaches than you’d expect. There’s even this weird surfing mini-game that’s janky but weirdly addictive. If you’ve played any of the old-school Pokémon games, this’ll feel like slipping into a familiar pair of flip-flops.

Just don’t expect Nintendo-level polish—some of the dialogue’s a little rough, and I ran into a couple of bugs. Still, it’s a solid way to kill time if you’re craving that old-school Pokémon vibe with a fresh coat of paint.
