Pokémon Never Black & White is a fan-made GBA romhack that mashes up elements from Black & White with classic GBA Pokémon vibes. You start in a familiar-but-tweaked Unova region with some unexpected starter choices—I went with the fire-type, but the water one has this weirdly cool evolution line.

The sprites are a mix of DS-era designs and GBA-style pixel art, which gives it this weird nostalgic-yet-new feel. Early routes have some surprise Gen 5 Pokémon mixed in with older ones, and the rival battles actually feel challenging right from the first encounter. Just watch out for the gym leaders—they’ve got some sneaky team compositions.

It’s still in beta, so there are a few rough edges, but the core gameplay loop is solid if you’re into these kinds of hacks. The music’s surprisingly good for a GBA conversion.
