About Pocky & Rocky 2 (europe)
Pocky & Rocky 2 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed and published by Natsume. It was part of that wave of Japanese action games that made the SNES library so distinct, a time when developers were really refining the top-down shooter and adventure genres.
You control either Pocky, a shrine maiden, or her raccoon dog partner Rocky, moving screen by screen through vibrant Japanese folklore-inspired settings. Your main goal is to fight through stages, defeating all the enemies on each screen before you can progress. You attack with a close-range melee swipe or by throwing projectiles; you can also collect power-ups to strengthen your shots or change their pattern. The game is known for its fast pace and considerable difficulty, with swarms of enemies and projectiles filling the screen. It feels frantic and demanding, requiring quick reflexes and smart positioning to survive.
