About Pitfall - The Mayan Adventure (europe)
Activision released Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. It arrived during a time when the SNES was home to many detailed platformers, and this game fit right in with its large, animated sprites and lush jungle backgrounds.
You control Pitfall Harry Jr., searching for your missing father through a series of side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to navigate the hazardous Mayan ruins, fighting enemies and solving environmental puzzles to progress. Signature mechanics include using a variety of weapons, like a boomerang and a slingshot, to defeat creatures from a distance. You also spend a lot of time swinging over bottomless pits with a vine, a move that requires careful timing.
