About Peace Keepers, The
I first played The Peace Keepers on the Super Nintendo in 1994, a game Jaleco released as the third entry in their Rushing Beat series of brawlers. It arrived during a time when the SNES was packed with side-scrolling fighters, and this one stood out with its own particular style and a slightly more involved structure than the typical arcade beat 'em up.
You control one of four characters, each with unique moves, as you punch and kick your way through waves of thugs. Your main goal is to fight across city stages to rescue a kidnapped girl, but the game mixes things up by letting you choose your path at certain points, which affects the levels you play. A key mechanic is the ability to pick up and throw almost any object in the environment, from barrels to defeated enemies themselves. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding precise timing to handle the aggressive enemy crowds that swarm the screen. It feels like a solid, challenging brawl that rewards persistence and learning the nuances of each fighter's combos.
