Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed and published by Konami. It arrived during a period when the SNES library was expanding with many creative shooters, and this one stood out immediately for its absurd tone. Instead of piloting a standard warship, you could choose from several oddball characters, including the Vic Viper from Gradius or the little penguin from another Konami title. The game doesn't take itself seriously at all, which was a refreshing change of pace.

You control a chosen ship, moving it in all directions to shoot down a parade of strange enemies. Your main goal is simply to survive through each side-scrolling stage, defeating the boss at the end. Key mechanics include collecting power-up capsules to enhance your weapons and a bell system that, when shot, provides temporary bonuses like speed boosts or screen-clearing options. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike suddenly with dense enemy patterns. Dodging through the chaos while a manic soundtrack plays makes each run feel both frantic and silly.
