I remember picking up The Pagemaster for the Super Nintendo in 1994. It was developed by Probe Software, and it felt like a very typical platformer for that era, the kind of game you'd rent for a weekend. The whole thing is based on that animated movie where a kid gets trapped inside a library, so you're essentially playing through that adventure.

You control Richard Tyler, navigating through themed worlds based on different genres of books. Your main goal is to find the Pagemaster by collecting pages scattered across these levels. The gameplay involves a lot of screen by screen exploration, fighting off enemies with a simple sword attack, and figuring out environmental puzzles to progress. It moves at a steady pace, though some of the platforming can be surprisingly tricky, demanding precise jumps. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging, trip through a living storybook.
