Outlander is one of those weird, gritty SNES games that feels like someone mashed up Mad Max and an arcade shooter. You start off with a beat-up car, a shotgun, and a whole lot of desert to cross—no fancy tutorials, just you and the open road. The controls take a second to get used to (steering feels a little slippery at first), but once you get the hang of drifting around bandits while blasting them, it clicks.
The world’s got this grimy, sun-bleached look to it, and the music’s all tense synth stuff that makes every encounter feel desperate. You’ll scavenge for fuel, upgrade your ride with spikes or armor (because of course), and occasionally hop out on foot to clear a bandit camp. It’s janky in that early ‘90s way, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about barely surviving a fight with 1% health left.
Just don’t expect a deep story—this is pure post-apocalyptic road rage.
