About Out Of This World (beta)
Out of This World came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Delphine Software. It was part of that early wave of SNES games that felt different from the usual platformers, leaning into cinematic storytelling and a distinct visual style.
You control Lester, a physicist stranded on a hostile alien world after a lab accident. Your main goal is simply to survive and find a way home. The game plays out screen by screen; you solve environmental puzzles, run from monstrous creatures, and occasionally befriend an alien companion who helps you. There is no traditional combat with health bars, just precise timing and quick reactions to avoid instant death from falls, attacks, or other hazards. The pacing is deliberate, often tense, because a single mistake sends you back to a previous checkpoint. Playing it feels like navigating an interactive, and frequently unforgiving, science fiction short story.
