About Osu!! Karatebu
I first came across Osu!! Karatebu on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1994. It was one of those many games from developer Culture Brain that flew a bit under the radar, a straightforward action title from the middle of the SNES library's life. You don't hear about it often, but it has its own simple charm.
You control a young karate student navigating a series of side-scrolling stages. Your main goal is to fight through each level, defeating all the enemies that appear. The gameplay is built on a few key mechanics: you punch and kick your way through opponents, you can collect power-ups to temporarily enhance your attacks, and you face a boss character at the end of each stage. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty feels consistent, asking you to learn enemy patterns without becoming overly punishing. It feels like a solid, no-frills brawler from that era.
