About Oscar (europe)
Oscar came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Titus Interactive. It was one of many platformers from that era, a time when developers were constantly experimenting with the console's capabilities. The game doesn't have the same recognition as some of the bigger titles from that year, but it has its own particular rhythm and style.
You control a mouse named Oscar, navigating through a large, interconnected mansion. Your main goal is to find and assemble the pieces of a broken medallion. The game is structured screen by screen, with you running, jumping across platforms, and climbing ropes. You can use a sword to fend off enemies like spiders and bats, and you spend a lot of time searching rooms for keys to unlock doors. The pacing is deliberate, more about careful exploration than fast action, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with precise jumps required. Playing it feels like a slow, methodical scavenger hunt through a dangerous, oversized house.
