About Onita Atsushi Fmw
Onita Atsushi FMW came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, published by Pony Canyon. It was part of that wave of Japanese professional wrestling games on the 16-bit consoles, a niche but active genre. This one specifically follows the Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling promotion and its hardcore star, Atsushi Onita.
You control Onita himself, moving from screen to screen in a side-scrolling beat 'em up format. Your main goal is to fight through various opponents to ultimately challenge a rival wrestler. Signature mechanics include using a limited supply of weapons, like a barbed wire bat, which you can pick up and swing at enemies. You also perform wrestling throws and grapples by getting close to an opponent and pressing the attack button. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty can be sharp, with enemies swarming you from both sides. It feels like a rough, chaotic brawl that captures the unpredictable energy of an FMW street fight.
