Nontan To Issho is one of those weirdly charming SNES puzzle games that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this goofy, low-key vibe I love. You’re basically matching colored blocks with this cartoon cat named Nontan, and the whole thing feels like someone took a kids’ show and turned it into a puzzle game without losing the charm. The music’s cheerful, the colors are bright, and the blocks have this satisfying plink when they connect.
At first glance, it seems simple—just line up three of the same color—but the later stages get sneaky with obstacles and weird block patterns. I got stuck on one level where the blocks kept spawning in the worst possible spots. Took me way too long to figure out the trick was to clear the bottom row first. Classic ’90s puzzle game logic.
If you’re into obscure Japanese SNES stuff, this one’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect Tetris-level intensity—it’s more like a lazy Sunday kind of game.
