Newman Hass IndyCar Racing on SNES is one of those games that makes you grip the controller a little tighter. Right off the bat, you're tweaking your car setup—adjusting gear ratios, tire pressure, all that nerdy stuff that actually matters when you hit the track. The first lap always feels like wrestling a rocket, especially at Phoenix or Michigan where the pack spreads out fast.
What I love is how the engine whine actually sounds like a real IndyCar screaming down the straight—none of that weak arcade noise. You can tell they squeezed every bit out of the 16MB cart. Just don’t expect Gran Turismo-level realism; it’s more about that early ‘90s balance between sim and seat-of-your-pants racing. The AI drivers actually fight for position instead of rolling out a red carpet for you.
It’s the kind of game where you’ll restart a race three times just to shave off half a second. If you’ve got a need for speed and a Super Nintendo, this one’s a no-brainer.
