Newman-Haas IndyCar Racing on SNES is one of those old-school racers that feels way ahead of its time. You start off picking your car setup—tweaking gear ratios and downforce like you're an actual pit crew chief—and then it's straight into blistering oval tracks where the sense of speed is legit terrifying at first. The steering has weight to it, so if you yank the D-pad too hard, you're kissing the wall before the first lap's even done.
Nigel Mansell's name is on the box, but the real star is how the cars handle. They don't just drift—they slide, like you're balancing on a knife's edge between control and chaos. The AI drivers aren't pushovers either; they'll draft you on straights and shove you wide on turns if you let them. Mess up a pit stop? Good luck catching up.
It's not the prettiest racer now, but the tension of holding a tight line at 200+ mph still holds up. Just don't blame me when you restart a race for the tenth time because some backmarker clipped your rear tire.
