About Natsume Championship Wrestling
Natsume Championship Wrestling came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed and published by Natsume. It was part of that wave of late SNES releases that tried to squeeze every bit of power out of the console, offering a more detailed take on the wrestling genre that was popular at the time.
You control a single wrestler, moving from a world map to individual arenas where you fight one-on-one matches. The main goal is to win matches, earn points, and climb the ranks to become the champion. A few things set it apart: you can perform a variety of grapples and slams depending on how you press the buttons, there's a momentum-based super move system that builds as you land attacks, and you can even climb the turnbuckle for high-risk aerial moves. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly aggressive, making you learn the timing for reversals. It feels like a scrappy, technical brawl where a single well-timed move can turn the whole match around.
