Naruhodo! The World is one of those weird, wonderful SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame because it’s got this quirky charm I haven’t seen in many games. You start off in what feels like a typical fantasy village, but then suddenly you’re hopping between time periods, solving logic puzzles that actually make you think, and fighting battles that are more about strategy than just mashing buttons.

The pixel art is gorgeous—bright colors, expressive sprites—and the music sticks in your head in that classic 16-bit way. Some of the puzzles can be brutal (I got stuck for an hour on one involving a sundial), but when you finally figure it out, it’s so satisfying. And the way the story ties everything together? Way ahead of its time.

If you’ve got a soft spot for forgotten SNES gems, this one’s worth tracking down—just keep a walkthrough handy for those puzzle moments.
