About Nhl '94 (beta)
I first played NHL '94 on the Super Nintendo in 1993, a game published by EA Sports. It arrived during a time when sports games were rapidly improving on the SNES, offering a more polished and immediate experience than many of its predecessors.
You control a five man unit on the ice, skating up and down the rink with the goal of scoring more points than the opposing team. The game's signature mechanics include the one timer pass and shot, which lets you fire the puck immediately after a teammate's pass, and the ability to perform a manual goalie control, pulling your netminder for an extra attacker. The pacing is fast, with quick transitions from defense to offense, and the difficulty feels balanced, challenging you to set up plays rather than just relying on individual speed. It feels fluid and responsive, a game where a well executed pass can be as satisfying as a goal.
