About Mr Tuff (prototype)
Mr Tuff is a prototype Super Nintendo game from 1995, developed by Ocean Software. It was never officially released, so the only way to play it is through a ROM. This places it among the many unfinished or unreleased titles from the SNES library, a curiosity for collectors and enthusiasts of that era.
You control the character Mr Tuff, navigating him through a series of single-screen platforming levels. The main goal is to explore each room, defeat the enemies inside, and collect all the keys to unlock the exit. Signature mechanics include using a sword for close combat and a bow for attacking from a distance, as well as searching for hidden items that grant extra lives or power-ups. The pacing is deliberate, with each screen presenting a self-contained puzzle of enemy placement and platform navigation, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you rush. Playing it feels like testing an unfinished blueprint, where you piece together how the game was meant to work.
