About Mountain Bike Rally
Mountain Bike Rally came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Radical Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early 90s sports games trying to capture a specific, real world activity on the console. You got a few different bikes and riders to pick from, which was pretty standard for the time.
You control a mountain biker from a side on perspective, racing down a long, single track course. The main goal is to finish each race in first place against computer opponents. The game has a stunt system where you can pull off tricks like wheelies and jumps to earn points; landing poorly will cause you to crash. You also have to manage your rider's stamina, which drains as you pedal and can be refilled by grabbing power ups along the path. The courses are filled with obstacles like rocks and sudden drops, making it a fairly challenging ride where memorizing the track layout becomes essential. It feels like a constant, bumpy fight for control down a steep hill.
