About Mortal Kombat Turbo
Mortal Kombat Turbo came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, a time when the system was packed with fighting games. Midway Games, the original arcade creator, handled this version. It was one of several home ports trying to capture the feel of the coin-op cabinets that were so popular in arcades then.
You pick a fighter from a roster of characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero, then battle through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to defeat all the other combatants in the tournament, culminating in a fight against the boss, Shang Tsung. Signature mechanics include performing special moves with specific joystick motions and button combinations, like throwing a spear or shooting an ice blast. The game is also known for its Fatality finishing moves, which you input after winning the final round to defeat your opponent in a dramatic way. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents can be brutally difficult, especially in later fights. It feels immediate and aggressive, demanding quick reflexes and a good memory for each character's unique attacks.
