Mortal Kombat 2 on SNES is the kind of game that made sleepovers legendary—even if Nintendo scrubbed most of the blood out. You’ve got all the classic fighters plus a few new faces, and Shang Tsung’s running the show again, this time with even more ridiculous boss fights. Kintaro’s a nightmare, and Shao Kahn? Good luck.
The controls feel clunky now, but back then, nailing Scorpion’s spear or Liu Kang’s bicycle kick felt like unlocking some ancient martial arts secret. The two-player mode was where it really shined—nothing like arguing over whether Sub-Zero’s freeze move was cheap or not. And yeah, the difficulty spikes hard by the time you reach Goro’s replacement, but that just made beating him with a sliver of health left even sweeter.
Still holds up if you’re into retro fighting games, just don’t expect the gore of the arcade version.
