About Monster Maker Kids - Ousama Ni Naritai (japan)
Monster Maker Kids: Ousama Ni Naritai came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, a release from the Japanese developer Sofel. It was part of that wave of mid-90s SNES games that experimented with different genres, offering something a bit different from the typical platformers and RPGs dominating the system at the time.
You control a young boy who explores a world map and enters turn-based battles against monsters. Your main goal is to defeat these monsters and then capture them, adding them to your own growing army. The core mechanics involve exploring the world screen by screen, engaging in strategic combat, and then using a specific item or command to try and recruit the monsters you've beaten. The pacing is deliberate, focused more on collection and strategy than on fast action, and the difficulty can be challenging as you manage your party's health and capture attempts. It feels like a methodical game of building your own bestiary from the ground up.
