About Monster Maker Iii - Hikari No Majutsushi (japan)
Monster Maker III: Hikari No Majutsushi came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Sofel. It was part of a wave of Japanese RPGs that explored more niche themes, landing in the middle of the SNES's lifespan when developers were experimenting with the console's capabilities.
You control a young magician on a quest to become a master monster tamer. Your main goal is to explore the world, enter dungeons, and collect a series of magical crests. The game plays out screen by screen, with random encounters triggering turn-based battles. A key mechanic is capturing monsters you defeat and then training them to fight alongside you. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be steep, especially when managing your party of monsters. It feels like a methodical and sometimes demanding project of building your own bestiary.
