About Monopoly (rev A)
Monopoly (Rev A) came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Sculptured Software. It was one of many digital board game adaptations from that era, sitting alongside other cartridge based titles that tried to bring a living room staple to the 16 bit screen.
You control a token, moving it around the board by rolling virtual dice. The main goal is to bankrupt every other player by buying properties, building houses and hotels, and charging rent when they land on your spaces. Key mechanics include managing your cash to pay for purchases and unexpected fees, then trading properties with opponents to complete color sets. The pacing can be slow, especially with the maximum number of players, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly aggressive with their own deals. It feels like a faithful, if sometimes plodding, translation of the tabletop arguments onto your television.
