Momotarou Dentetsu Happy is one of those classic Japanese board games that feels like Monopoly got mixed with a travel simulator—but way more chaotic. You roll dice, buy up train lines, and watch your opponents groan when they land on your property. The whole thing’s set in Japan, so you’re hopping between real cities, and the art’s got that charming SNES-era vibe with chunky sprites and bright colors.
What makes it fun is the randomness—sometimes you’ll get hit with disasters that wipe out half your cash, or stumble on a lucky event that sends you straight to Tokyo. The strategy’s light, but there’s just enough screw-your-neighbor energy to keep it interesting. If you’ve ever played the newer Switch versions, this is where it all started, just way pixelated.
Definitely a good time if you’ve got friends who don’t mind a little old-school jank.
