About Mighty Max (beta)
Mighty Max on the Super Nintendo came out in 1994 from Ocean Software. It was part of that wave of games based on cartoons and toys, a pretty common sight on the system back then. You don't hear about it as much as some other SNES titles, but it had its own little corner in the platform's library.
You control Max, a kid in a baseball cap, navigating through levels screen by screen. The main goal is to fight your way through various themed worlds, like a horror movie set or an Egyptian tomb, to stop the villain Skullmaster. You use a sword for close combat and can find a bow for ranged attacks against the different monsters. The game is a side scrolling action platformer with some light exploration, and it moves at a quick pace. It can be quite difficult, with enemies coming from all directions and platforming that requires precise jumps. Playing it feels like a constant, fast paced scramble to survive.
