Might and Magic II on SNES is one of those old-school RPGs that somehow still feels massive even by today’s standards. You start by rolling up a party of six—knights, sorcerers, clerics, the usual suspects—and immediately get dumped into this sprawling world with zero handholding. Good luck figuring out which stats actually matter (hint: endurance is way more important than you’d think).

The combat’s turn-based but weirdly fast-paced for a ‘90s RPG, and the dungeons? Brutal in the best way. You’ll be mapping grids on graph paper like it’s 1992, stumbling into fights with monsters twice your level because you took a wrong turn. The music’s got that classic SNES synth vibe, especially the town themes—they stick in your head for days.

It’s janky in places (good luck with the inventory management), but there’s something about the sheer scale of it that still impresses. Just don’t expect anyone to explain how the magic system works—you’ll be flipping through the manual for that one.
