About Micro Machines (europe)
Micro Machines came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed by Codemasters. It was a racing game that felt different from the usual arcade racers of the time, using the miniature toy cars as its main draw.
You control one of several small vehicles, racing against other drivers on tracks built across everyday locations like a breakfast table or a pool. The main goal is simply to finish first, but the challenge comes from the track design. The screen scrolls to keep the lead car centered, so falling behind means you get pushed off the screen and eliminated. You also have to avoid hazards like cereal bowls and pencil cases, which are huge obstacles for your tiny car. The races are fast and unforgiving; one mistake can end your race instantly. It feels frantic and surprisingly tense for a game about toy cars.
