Mickey No Magical Adventure is one of those SNES platformers that flew under the radar outside Japan—which is a shame because it's got this weird, charming energy. You play as Mickey (obviously) jumping through these bright, slightly surreal levels with a mix of classic Disney vibes and some offbeat power-ups. The controls feel a little floaty at first, but once you get used to it, there's something satisfying about bouncing off enemies' heads.
First level throws you into a candy-colored forest with these bouncing mushrooms that send you way higher than you'd expect. I remember thinking "this is either going to be amazing or terrible" within five minutes—turns out it's kind of both, in the best way. The music's got that early 90s synth-cheerfulness that sticks in your head for days.
Definitely not the tightest platformer on the SNES, but there's a goofy sincerity to it that makes me keep coming back when I want something lighthearted. The Japanese version has some minor tweaks from the international release, mostly little animation flourishes.
