Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut came out for the Super Famicom in 2000, a late release for the system. It was developed by HAL Laboratory, the same team behind the Kirby series, and it's an enhanced version of a 1991 Famicom game. This was one of the final official titles for the platform, arriving long after most developers had moved on to newer consoles.

You control a young pilot navigating a story driven by text and choices. The main objective is to uncover the mystery behind a powerful, ancient war machine. Gameplay involves reading through dialogue and making decisions that branch the narrative; there are no traditional action sequences or exploration. You interact with the story screen by screen, and your choices directly influence which of the multiple endings you will see. The pacing is deliberate, focused entirely on the plot, and the difficulty lies in understanding the consequences of your dialogue selections. Playing it feels like actively steering a visual novel where your attention to detail shapes the entire experience.
