Play Metal Morph Online

I first played Metal Morph on the Super Nintendo in 1994, a game published by Origin Systems. It came out during a time when the SNES library was full of experiments, and this one definitely stood apart from the usual platformers and RPGs. You don't see many games that try to blend so many ideas into one cartridge.

You control a pilot in a transforming vehicle, switching between a robot and a fighter jet to navigate large, maze-like levels. The main goal is to destroy a central reactor on each stage, but getting there involves a lot of exploration. Your signature ability is the morphing itself; you can temporarily absorb the properties of certain enemies and objects, turning your own metal into spikes or other forms to solve puzzles and attack. The game is methodical, almost slow, as you figure out the labyrinthine layouts and which morphs you need to progress. It feels like a deliberate puzzle box where your power is as much about adaptation as it is about firepower.
