Metal Max 2 is one of those weird, rough-around-the-edges SNES JRPGs that somehow sticks with you. It’s got that grimy, sun-blasted Mad Max vibe—desert wastelands, rusty tanks, and a whole lot of scavenging for scraps. You start off with a busted-up vehicle and not much else, but half the fun is slowly tricking it out with armor, guns, and whatever else you can salvage from fights or abandoned wrecks.
Combat’s a mix of turn-based RPG stuff and tank battles, which sounds clunky but actually works. The world’s open-ish—you can wander into areas way above your paygrade early if you’re reckless (or just curious). It’s janky in places, but there’s something weirdly charming about its scrappy, DIY feel. If you’re into offbeat 16-bit RPGs, this one’s worth digging up.
