About Melfand Stories (japan)
Melfand Stories came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, a release from Squaresoft during a time when the platform was full of ambitious role playing games. It was not one of their major titles, but it had a distinct presence on the shelf, a smaller project from a well known developer.
You control a young swordsman named Melfand, navigating the world screen by screen in an overhead perspective. Your main goal is to explore dungeons and defeat monsters to gather the scattered pieces of the Triforce. Combat is straightforward; you swing your sword at enemies that appear on the map, and you can also use a bow for ranged attacks. The pacing is deliberate, with some challenging enemy placements that require careful movement. Playing it feels like a methodical journey through a compact, monster filled world.
