Okay, so The Mask on SNES is one of those movie tie-ins that actually kinda works. You play as Stanley Ipkiss—well, more like his chaotic green-faced alter ego—bouncing around with that manic Jim Carrey energy. The levels are basically exaggerated versions of scenes from the film: smashing through nightclubs, dodging mobsters, and tossing giant cartoon hammers like they’re confetti.
It’s a side-scroller with some weirdly satisfying platforming—like, you’ll warp into a tornado spin attack or inflate into a balloon to float past spikes. The art style nails the movie’s rubbery, over-the-top vibe, even if the controls feel a tiny bit stiff now. Not gonna lie, the boss fights are the best part—especially when you’re chucking anvils at a screaming gangster in a Hawaiian shirt.
Definitely one of the better ‘90s movie games, even if it’s a little rough around the edges.
