Mary Shelley's Frankenstein on SNES is one of those weird licensed games from the '90s that tried to ride the movie's coattails—except it barely resembles the film. You play as Frankenstein's monster, lumbering through gloomy villages and castles, smashing stuff with your freakish strength. The controls feel a little stiff, like the monster's joints need oiling, but there's something oddly satisfying about tossing enemies into spikes or breaking down doors.

It's got that classic side-scrolling beat 'em up vibe, but with a gothic horror twist—torch-lit corridors, angry mobs with pitchforks, and a soundtrack that sounds like a haunted organ recital. The Sega CD version later bundled with Dracula might have better cutscenes, but the SNES one has its own janky charm. Not a masterpiece, but if you dig weird retro movie tie-ins, it's a fun curiosity.
