Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems is one of those SNES brawlers that just feels like a comic book come to life. You pick from five heroes—Spider-Man’s my go-to, obviously—and punch your way through waves of goons to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Gems. The levels are bright, chaotic, and packed with little Marvel nods, like Wolverine popping up as an NPC or Doctor Doom lurking in the background.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something satisfying about web-slinging through a stage or smashing robots as Hulk. The boss fights are where it shines—some of them actually make you think instead of just mashing buttons. And yeah, the soundtrack slaps in that classic 16-bit way.
If you grew up with Marvel comics or just love old-school beat ‘em ups, this one’s a solid time capsule. Just don’t expect it to be as polished as, say, the Capcom Marvel fighters.
