So, Mario & Wario is this weird little SNES puzzle game where Wario—being the jerk he is—drops a bucket on Mario’s head. Yeah, that’s the whole premise. Now you’ve got to guide a blind Mario through levels by drawing paths for him, dodging enemies and pitfalls while he stumbles around like an idiot. It’s equal parts hilarious and frustrating.
The first few levels ease you in—just some simple lines to get him past Goombas—but then it starts throwing curveballs. Suddenly you’re timing jumps over spikes, redirecting him mid-air, or praying he doesn’t walk straight into a Piranha Plant. The art’s got that classic Mario charm, but the gameplay’s nothing like the usual platforming. More like a mix of Lemmings and a doodling simulator.
Honestly, it’s one of those games that makes you yell at the screen when Mario faceplants for the tenth time because you drew the line a pixel too short. But in a good way. If you’re into quirky, slightly chaotic puzzle games, this one’s a hidden gem.
