This phase allows for the setup of pre-battle doctrine and the plotting of initial maneuvers. Once planning is complete, the game shifts to a real-time action phase that lasts up to four minutes. During this segment, players assume a first-person perspective on the deck of their flagship, freely moving to observe the battle from various vantage points as cannons fire and weather conditions, of which there are sixteen types, dynamically change.

After the real-time segment concludes, control returns to the plotting stage. Here, players assess damage to their fleet and the results of movement before issuing new orders for the next turn. This cycle of strategic planning and real-time observation repeats until the battle concludes. The game ends with a victory summary that displays the battle's outcome and declares the winning side.
