Oh man, Magical Quest was one of those SNES gems that made being a kid awesome. You play as Mickey, but not just regular Mickey—this time he’s got these wild costume changes that totally switch up how he plays. One minute you’re tossing fireballs in a wizard robe, the next you’re climbing vines like a mountain climber. King Pete (classic villain move) kidnaps Pluto, so you’re jumping through these bright, bouncy levels to get him back.
The controls are super smooth, and the art still holds up—those Disney animators clearly had a hand in this. The first level throws you right into it with the wizard outfit, and I remember being weirdly obsessed with the way Mickey’s cape flutters when you double jump. It’s got that perfect balance of being easy to pick up but with just enough challenge to keep you from breezing through. If you missed this one back in the day, it’s still a blast to play now.
