You know that classic SNES era when Disney games actually ruled? Magical Quest is one of the good ones—Mickey’s out to save Pluto from King Pete (who’s basically just a big jerk in a crown), and the whole thing plays like a colorful, slightly chaotic side-scroller. The gimmick? Mickey swaps between these weird magical outfits—firefighter, mountain climber, wizard—and each one changes how you tackle obstacles. The wizard robe lets you shoot little energy balls, which feels hilariously overpowered until you realize some enemies just don’t care.
It’s got that early ‘90s Disney charm—bright colors, bouncy music, and levels that feel like they’re ripped straight from a cartoon. The platforming’s not super tight, but the costume switching keeps it from getting stale. Also, Pete’s final boss fight is way harder than it has any right to be. Still holds up if you’re into that era.
