Madden NFL 96 on SNES is one of those games that just feels right if you grew up with a Super Nintendo. The graphics are chunky but charming, and the gameplay’s simple enough that you can pick it up fast—no 50-button combos here. You’ll fumble through your first few plays (I definitely did), but once you get the hang of calling audibles and reading defenses, it’s weirdly satisfying.
It’s got all the classic teams and players from the mid-90s, so if you’re into nostalgia, seeing those old rosters is a trip. The commentary’s repetitive, sure, but that’s part of the charm—after a while, you’ll start predicting exactly when John Madden will say "Boom!" after a big hit. Not the deepest football sim, but for quick couch multiplayer or just reliving some 16-bit sports glory, it holds up better than you’d think.
